School arrangements Covid-19
As a country, we all need to do what we can to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. All schools are being asked to continue to provide care for a specific cohorts of children and support the national effort to combat this disease and keep the country running.
These cohorts of children are:
- children who are supported by social care, those with safeguarding and welfare needs, including child in need plans, on child protection plans, ‘looked after’ children
- children with EHCPS
- children whose parents are key workers and cannot be safely cared for at home.
Whilst we would like to provide care for all of our students at Bents Green we have been significantly impacted by staff absence due to the coronavirus pandemic.
We have therefore had to make the difficult decision that we will not be able to open Bents Green (Sheaf and Ringinglow) to all students from Monday.
We will only be open for:
- Children who are supported by social care, those with safeguarding and welfare needs, including child in need plans, on child protection plans, ‘looked after’ children
- Children whose parents are key workers
You will be contacted today to advise you if the school will be open for your child as they fall into one of the above categories. We will advise transport on your behalf which children will be attending.
Please do not send your child to school from Monday 23rd March unless you receive communication today from the school to do so.
If your child attends Westfield Hub, please follow the guidance of Westfield School, Chorus Trust.
The Government has also advised that, even if your child is in the above categories they should not attend school if they are medically vulnerable due to the risk this presents to their health. All parents of children in this category have been contacted by text today.
The choice and decision on whether your child accesses our available provision from Monday onwards remains with you. I know that this is a very stressful time for all, so please continue to look after yourselves and your loved ones. Thank you for your understanding.
