Y8 and Y9 students
Students in Y8 continue to follow a primary based curriculum very similar to the Y7 model. The main differences for Y8 is they have longer lessons in Preparation for Adulthood and Forest Schools. Thematic themes and topics are different to what is covered in Y7 as this curriculum is built upon a 3 year cycle. When students reach Y9, a decision is made based upon their stage of development. Many students benefit from the consistency that the primary model provides. There social and emotional development is more in line with students in Y8 and therefore they have access to an appropriate peer group. Some Y9 students therefore remain in phase 3 and taught in vertical groups, whilst others are ready to move into phase 4.
